Your own personal work ethic is a factor in the amount of time you get on the field. It does not matter how talented you are if you do not have an excellent work ethic. All coaches want players who are going to do their best, work hard, and continue to learn as they play.


Your team can score points by kicking field goals. If you find yourself in a fourth-down predicament, consider kicking a field goal. This should not be done unless you know for sure the kicker is able to get the ball through the goal posts in the end zone of the opposing team. Those three points can add up.


Don’t ever step onto the field without your protective gear. Football can cause serious risk to anyone. If you aren’t wearing the correct gear, do not play. Injuries include fractures and bone breaks, paralysis and even major brain injuries. You may never be able to play again.


Shuttle runs will improve your ability to come to a quick stop as well as boost your endurance and stamina. Start at a goal line and then run ten yards. Tap the line. Next, head back towards the end zone and tap the goal line. Do as many as you can each day and keep track to see how you get better as time passes.
